I went to the Palace of the Fine Art the other day. It's a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, in Marina area in San Francisco.
A bit closer up to the dome...
Inside the dome.
It's totally a beautiful building. But WHO KNEW inside this building was a maker space!?
I went there for a Wearable hackers meetup, and didn't even think it was inside the Palace of the Fine Art, so I was biking around the area in circles trying to find the venue ;)
It's called Innovation Hangar- they are currently renovating the place where they had the older Exploratorium, and have maker space, incubator, event space, etc. Super cool! Opening some time in 2015 :)
Back the the wearable meetup- it was in the maker media lab area.
Lots of 3D printers:
Drones
MakerMan
They had this huge table with LEDs and batteries and tapes and hairbands and others that we can create our own wearables. I brought my EL wire jacket and made another LED blinkey hairband :D
And there's tons of equipments and tools
And robots :D :D But unfortunately it doesn't move :(
Since it was a wearable meetup, tons of people showed up in their cool wearables :D This lady had wearables on her dress, necklace, hear, glasses... so fun!
This lady had lots of wearables on her too, she also had a glowing object that changes colors when you move it. Hard to capture on video nor still...
Merry Making all through the year!
Where did "k" go?
I'm pretty sure they plan to do lots of events here, thousands of water bottles stocked up :)
They had an incubator space in the 2nd floor.
This door is a lensless camera ;)
